Adherence
Adherence is a measure of patient compliance or obedience to the prescription of the medicine (or usage of medical device) in self-administration. Ie. 100% adherence is when patient took the medicine in exact dosage and time span as prescribed by HCP.
Adherence is important in Clinical Trials, when it usually is on high levels, but it drops in the “real-world” settings. Adherence has to be considered when deciding what regimen and dosage should be chosen for a product. Lack of adherence is one of the biggest obstacles when delivering healthcare to the patient.
