On 21st of November 2013, the Armenian government approved the bills of additions and amendments to the Law on Advertising and the Code of Administrative Infractions. The purpose is to restrict the advertising and sale of tobacco products.
Armenian Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan said NGOs do not voice concern about the problem, even though thousands of people die from smoking in Armenia every year.
“Let’s agree that we will keep the problem at the center of our attention and try to create a respective mood in society so as to obtain people’s support”, the prime minister said.
